Case Study:
Project name: Production Waste Water Neutralization Basin
Project date: August 11, 2009 to August 20, 2009
Polyurea System Applied: VersaFlex, PV320, average 80 mils (2.0 mm) applied
Primer System: AquaLok II (spray applied) followed by PV30 Epoxy based primer (roller applied)
Surface Profile: SSPC-SP 13 and CSP 6
Substrate / Area: Three concrete basins, about 3000 square foot surface area

This client has three underground production waste water basins. These concrete basins had been applied a membrane liner on the concrete surface in 2008. After several months, the liners were failed. We were asked to replace the old liner with Polyurea liner. The properties of Polyurea were best suited for tank liners.

The old liner was removed first. Because of the old liner rubber residue left on the concrete surface, we had to abrasively blast the surface to remove the residue and make the surface reach SSPC –SP 13 and CSP 6 profile.

Because of the restriction for the substrate surface moisture level, after we finished the surface profile, we had to stop all the leaks.

When we finished the surface preparation, we sprayed Aqualok II to penetrate the concrete surface moisture. Then we rolled PV30 epoxy based primer on the same day.

The next day, we sprayed 80 mils (2.0 mm) thickness polyurea liner on the concrete basin surface. After 48 hours’ application, the neutralization basin put into use. Each basin turnout time is 4 days.
